Single Again After 19 Years. Part 2
I balked at this because I think it is extremely important for the children to experience the least amount of change in their lives as possible. They love their pets, their home, their school and their friends. I am only working part-time now and can’t afford to keep the house. I had to compromise. After asking the boys what they’d like to do, it was unanimous – they wanted to stay right where they were. Therefore, I have to move.
So here I am, 45 years old, haven’t worked outside the home in 12 years, never drove myself anywhere other than to my parent’s or sister’s houses, the grocery store and occasionally to Wally World in town — and I’m back on my own again. Any full-time job I acquire has to revolve around my picking up the two younger boys after school, as their dad works a straight second shift. So I can only work until approximately 4 p.m. Then, I have to take care of them until Dad gets home around midnight.
My life has totally changed. I am emerging from 19 years of being a housewife, almost totally homebound except for sporting events that I attended with STBE. I did make the wonderful discovery of the computing world about 10 years ago, thank goodness, and that has been my saving grace. I started picking up small writing and hosting jobs online, and building websites. I’ve met a lot of great online friends who give me support and encouragement through this difficult time. I’ve met some of them in person, and they’ve become very good real world and cyber-world friends.
